YouTube Announced an Update to its Verification Program

Recently YouTube has announced to update its verification program. The aim behind to roll out this update is to protect creators from impersonation and address user confusion.

YouTube has claimed that every year they are receiving millions of creators complaints about impersonation. Altogether the Giant has revealed that makers misconstrued the identification’s significance, partner it with “endorsement of content” and not the pointer of identity.

The social media giant also announced that those creators who has over 100000 subscribers will still be eligible to apply if they are facing any impersonation issue, and later from Oct. YouTube will review those channels to verify their identity.

A new look for a verified accounts has been revealed and will be consistently displayed across the screens and the new badge will be rolled out next year.

However in a current situation, the viewers can identify the channels authenticity by checking the checked mark followed by the channel name.

 

New Eligibility requirement for Youtubers:

In the current scenario, channels with more than 100000 subscribers are verified YouTubers and have no need for proof of identity as they worked well and help grow the YouTube.

Further addition to make the creators work more authentic and genuine, so that viewers can identify the official channels of creators for whom they are looking for.

According to YouTube the new authentication parameters will be:

“Authenticity: Does this channel belong to the real creator, artist, public figure or company it claims to represent?

Prominence: Does this channel represent a well-known or highly searched creator, artist, public figure or company? Is this channel widely recognized outside of YouTube and have a strong presence online? Is this a popular channel that has a very similar name to many other channels?”

Finally the criteria will be applied to all channels and the channels which are already following the guidelines will be exempted from the verification process and the process will be automatically apply the new methods further.
